The new Shenzhen Library is going to be open in July. In order to promote the readers’ convenience, avoid crowded situation or a long queue for library cards application on the opening date, let readers can hold their cards in advance to enjoy our services such as Circulating Documents, Video on Demand, Internet, E-Newspapers & Periodicals, Databases, etc. once they come to our library, we overcame all kinds of difficulties and decided to accept new library cards application for citizens from June 10th, meanwhile, those who hold old library cards can replay cards by new ones.
Chinese citizen and foreigners who qualify for a library card are 14 years of age and older. Applicants need to present identification cards (or PLA cards, passports), hand in one-inch recent photo. The reader, who is going to deal with the replacement of a library card need to provide the old card and his ID card at the same time.
The labor cost charge of applying a new card or replacing an old card is free for the first time, but renewing one card is 10 Yuan. If you want to open the function of Chinese literature borrowing, need to hand in 100 Yuan deposit and 200 Yuan for foreign language book borrowing. The original deposit can be transferred to the new card and keep on being used. When you withdraw your library card, please bring your library card, ID card and deposit receipt to refund your deposit.
Time for handling library cards in advance:
10:00 AM--16:00 PM from Tuesday to Sunday.
(The date for handling library cards affairs begins on June 10th, 2006 and the future normal timetable will be announced afterward.)

All age 60 or older senior citizen and handicapped can handle all kinds of card affairs preferentially.
Withdrawing and reporting the loss of the old library cards affairs will only be accepted after the new library is opened.
